Healthy leaders make healthy businesses
|
After a full day of meetings, travel, networking, decisions, email, paperwork, and commuting, who has time for exercise? Most of us. Who should make time for exercise? All of us. Texas CEO Magazine points out that not only is exercise a great way to reduce risk of death (58 percent lowered risk of death by any cause), but also it’s a great way to perform better at the office. Healthy leaders are better business people. And more importantly, they should lead by example and show their employees how to live healthy lifestyles. The article offers a few pointers, such as:
- Be aware: Be tuned in and listen to others about their health improvement goals and look for opportunities to know more.
- Show interest: If an employee self discloses a health related goal, find out what matters most to support their success. Don’t just listen, be an active listener.
