Without an engineer in the family, executive director of the Intel Foundation Wendy Hawkins pointed out, girls are probably not exposed to all the possibilities the field has to offer, but goes on to say that, Engineers change the world. They solve real problems. They improve lives. And, they live good lives themselves. The best way to make sure that engineers pay attention to the problems that girls think are important, is for girls to get in there and become engineers themselves! Engineering Week ends on Saturday and it might be a bit late to celebrate today, but mark your calendars for next year or head over to Geek Mom to read stories about women in STEM careers.
